Setting Up Your iDRY Kiln
While this task should only be done by a licensed local electrician, it is a very straightforward setup process we’re going to explain step by step in this article.
Before we get started, please note this is a 208-230 volt system so you’ll need this on a 60amp breaker.
The only tool required for this set up is a Phillips screwdriver. As with any electrical installations, there should be no live power running to the unit.

First, remove the cover. You should see four screws in each corner and the cover is located beneath an easy to spot orange sticker that shows the voltage of the system (208-230).
Once the cover is removed you should see the terminal block for the rotary disconnect located in the center of the panel. As this is a single-phase system, we only have two wires and the ground to worry about! The cable can be brought through the bottom of the box with a liquid-tight conduit or any other kind of conduit that works for you.
Below the rotary disconnect (the circular metal piece in the center of the panel) are your L1 and L2 power wires, these are the main wires that power your control panel above. You can identify these as the two black wires parallel to each other on the lower part of the unit.
Now to connect the wires we’re going to start with our black wire. This goes into the top of the terminal block opposite the L1 power wire. Once you have fitted this wire into the unit, tighten the screw on the leftmost side, this should correspond to the area you just fitted your black wire into.

Finally, the ground, don’t be tempted to rush ahead as the ground wire does not in fact go to the right of the white wire as some might assume.
Next, you’re going to take the white wire and fit it into the space directly to the right of your black wire and tighten the corresponding screw.

The ground wire noted on this unit as being light green, actually attaches to the far left of the panel area, left of the black wire. If you’re having trouble locating the ground connection refer back to the L1 and L2 power wires we mentioned earlier on the bottom of the unit, to the left you’ll see a green wire. Your green ground wire goes opposite this wire on the top of the metal piece on the left-hand side of the panel.
