Drainage is a critical aspect of the iDRY kiln, and making sure you understand how it functions is an important part of the iDRY setup. Make sure you familiarize yourself with the information below and find the correlating parts of the kiln when you are setting it up.

Underneath the back corner of the kiln, in the lower left-hand corner from the control panel are both of the drains. There is a drain for the vacuum pump itself, and a vessel drain for the water that comes out of the vacuum chamber. There are two pre-plumbed two-inch air gaps, and these are integral to make sure that water does not back up from your drain into the kiln. You do not want to remove those, you will simply connect your two-inch pipe and size that up for whatever size is necessary for a gravity drain for the distance that you’re going. Whether that’s two feet and a two-inch pipe or thirty feet or three hundred feet, size up your pipe for the line so that there is no backflow pressure on the system. If this is not set up correctly, and there is a backflow present, it will affect the drying of your material significantly and will waste time and energy.

If you have concerns about setting up the drainage yourself, with or without phone assistance from iDRY, any licensed plumber will have the expertise to be able to help with setting up the gravity drain for your kiln, and get you ready to dry materials in no time!
