Are you closing the door to your iDRY correctly?

Closing the door on your kiln seems straightforward, but there are a couple of tips that are worth noting to make sure that your iDRY is working optimally. The iDRY kiln is a very simple device to operate, but making sure you understand each element of the machine perfectly will not only provide you with better drying results, but it will also help with the overall energy and material efficiency for your iDRY.

Once you have loaded your kiln with your material, begin to swing the door closed however note that it will not close all the way. This is an expected result as the door seal begins to compress on the hinged side of the door. Once the door is closed as far as it can swing, loosen up the upper handwheel until you can swing it over the latch then tighten the wheel until it begins to give you some resistance. Once you have tightened the first one, swing the second handwheel into place over the latch and tighten it as well.

Please be aware of the warning labels on the door that state not to over-tighten the handwheel when closing the door. Once the door is sealed and vacuum tight, the handwheels will actually loosen as the vacuum inside the kiln will pull and seal the door tightly. There is no need to further tighten the handwheels once this happens and it is recommended not to as the door will move outwards when the vacuum seal is released and if the handwheels are over-tightened it can put enormous stress on the wheels and the latch assembly.

If you follow these steps each time you open and close the iDRY, you will find that your kiln will work at peak efficiency and will last you a very long time!
