How does the Vacuum Pump Work on Your iDRY?

The Vacuum pump assembly of the iDRY kiln is a very important feature, it’s the device that creates the vacuum environment that allows the entire machine to function, so let’s take a closer look at the available connections to the system.

If you look just under the lower left hand corner of the kiln you will see both of the two drains, with two inch air gaps and right between them, the half inch NPT female pipe thread water connection. You can connect to whatever water line you would like here, including Pex or Copper, as long as it is a reliable source of water. A rigid line is recommended so that there are no issues caused by potential kinking of the water line. This water is there to supply the vacuum pump which will keep that pump cool and it creates a liquid ring seal. It is worth noting that the pump only uses water when it is running, which will be between 5-10% of the time during kiln operation. During those operational times, the vacuum pump uses ¾ of a gallon of water per minute, and no water aside from that.

It is important to be aware that while the iDRY kiln itself is extremely simple to own and operate, it is recommended to hire a licensed plumber to assist with setting up the drainage for the kiln. Improper setup of the drainage can lead to backflow and will prevent your material from drying properly, and therefore wasting time and energy for your business!
